Despite his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 last October, Conor McGregor is still at the top of every fighter’s wish list, as “Notorious” has been called out by just about everyone under the UFC banner.

Whether it’s former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson calling for a showdown, or Donald Cerrone looking to get a taste of the fiery Irishman, there are no shortage of combatants eager to step into the cage with McGregor.

That’s because it’s no secret that a fight against UFC’s biggest box office machine generates millions of dollars, which means a bigger paycheck for all parties involved.

Now, another former champion has thrown his name in the hat for a fight against Conor, as former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has once again taken it upon himself to ask UFC president Dana White for a chance to test his skills against the former champ-champ.

“Come on boss. Give this show for the fans, give this show for the big fans of the UFC. Two big guys, two big names, you know? It’s good money for you Dana, and good challenge for me, for Conor. I believe I could cut my weight for 180, I believe McGregor could weigh for 180. That’s the good fight for me and Conor. That’s a good experience for the fans, especially the fans for this sport. That’s a super, super, superfight. Anderson Silva and Conor McGregor.”

As Silva alluded to, the fight would be a drastic advantage for him as he will obviously be the much bigger fighter, as he usually competed at 185 pounds and can balloon up to 205 pounds if need be. As for Conor, the highest weight class he’s ever competed in is welterweight, spending most of his career fighting at either twilight or featherweight.

A catch weight fight of 180 pounds does seem logical, but even then Silva would still have the size and strength advantage in all areas, which could make for a very lopsided affair.

For now, Silva will shift his attention to his upcoming fight against Jared Cannonier, which will take place this Saturday (May 11, 2019) at UFC 237 in Rio de janeiro, Brazil.
