We previously reported that Canelo Alvarez was set to face Billy Joe Saunders on May 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
But it seems that fight has been put to the back burner.
According to The Athletic, Canelo has now switched gears and will fight Gennady Golovkin for a third time.
While it has not yet been made official, the fight is expected to take place on September 12, 2020.
Furthermore, it will go down at the famed AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, which plays host to NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and can seat over 90,000 fans.
In their first classic fight, the men fought to a split draw.
A year later, Alvarez defeated Golovkin via decision.
Both bouts were instant classic, so we shouldn’t expect anything less with this third championship slug fests.
