There was a time when Conor McGregor was the end all, be all when it came to stardom in mixed martial arts (MMA).

Indeed, Conor took the UFC by storm quickly and violently on his way to becoming the promotion’s first ever dual division champion simultaneously.

But over the last year, things haven’t gone so well for “Notorious,” as he now longer hold as UFC world title and his last fight saw him get choked out by Khabib Nurmagomedov. Plus, he hasn’t competed in a year.

Khabib Nurmagomedov, meanwhile, has seen his star get even brighter after taking out Conor at UFC 229. He defended his title against Dustin Poirier, and his name has blown up all over the world.

That’s why Dana White proclaimed Khabib to now be “the man,” and if Conor ants a rematch, it will be on “The Eagle’s” terms.

“Khabib is the man now,” White said in an interview with Boston Globe. “Conor isn’t the man anymore, so Khabib gets to sit back and call the shots.”

Upon catching wind of those comments, the fiery Irishman took to Twitter to fire back at his boss.

“Who’s not the man?” wrote McGregor via Twitter. “Your man had that marquee event did he? More like an event in a marquee. A tent in the fucking sand it was. Keep spoofing to your self horse. Jock strap sniffer championships.”

Conor and White have had an exceptional relationship over the years, but it’s obvious Dana’s statements really touched a nerve for Conor.

That said, MCGregor can prove that he indeed is the man once he returns to action and gets some much-needed wins under his belt.

Better yet, his can claim the throne once again if he defeats Nurmagomedov in a rematch. That said, if and when the do-over happens, it will have to be on Khabib’s terms.
