Not only is Conor McGregor one of the world’s finest MMA fighters, but he seems to really love the spot too. And we are pretty sure he’s very pleased with Forbes ranking him in 5th place as social media’s most valuable athlete world over. All this despite his retirement and loss to Khabib in 2018.
McGregor is so insanely popular that he does not even need to win matches to make his fortune grow.
He’s made the top 5 with some pretty notable athletes, Christino Ronaldo has ranked number one with his 887.2 million interactions, while the number two spot goes to Lionel Messi who has half as many.
In third place with 289 million is Brazilian Neymar and his teammate Kylian Mbappe is fourth with 167.6 million interactions.
Placing after McGregor is Mohamed Salah with 152.2 million and closely followed by Paulo Dybala with 144.8 million.
As I am sure you can tell by this list, McGregor is king of his world, his competitors in his own sport don’t come close. Khabib Nurmagomedov has 111.1 million impressions while Anthony Joshua has 41.6 million. Floyd Mayweather comes in at 31.4 million. That is a massive difference compared to McGregor’s 159.7 million impressions.
We think it’s clear that McGregor will hold his title as most popular MMA athlete for a long time, even if he never fights again.
