Now that Conor McGregor has officially been booked to make his MMA comeback against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on January 18, 2020, all that is left to do is train and compete.
But not everyone is happy with the matchup, especially Justin Gaethje’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz.
Ali took to Instagram to voice his displeasure after “Notorious” seemingly passed on a fight against his client in favor of what he deems to be an easy fight against “Cowboy.”
“I’m happy for cowboy he got the fight. I still believe he is gonna win but Justin Gaethje was the fight to take if you want to fight for a LW title,” said Ali.
“When you fight Justin it’s kill or be killed and he knows it but it’s all good.”
While one can understand Ali and Justin’s frustration, Cerrone is far from an easy fight. Yes, Justin knocked out Cerrone in their mathcup, but that isn’t indicative of just what Donald can do inside the cage.
Everyone suffers defeat — Justin included — but it’s your overall body of work that makes you the fighter you are.
And for anyone to think that a fight against Cerrone will be a walk in the park, all you have to do is look at what he has accomplished inside the cage.
His stats are incomparable:
Cerrone holds the all-time UFC record for wins with 23, the all-time UFC record for finishes with 16 and the all-time UFC record for post-fight bonus awards with 18.
If that wasn’t enough, he also holds the all-time UFC record in knockdowns with 20, as well as the all-time UFC record with seven knockouts via kicks.
That said, when you put Donald’s explosiveness in the cage with Conor’s power, it is sure-fire recipe for hell of a fight!
