Amidst a potential Bieber and Cruise bout, Connor McGregor has announced that he would like to not only host the event, but also fight Mark Walberg on the undercard of the event.
Scooter Braun, Bieber’s agent and White and Ari Emanuel, co-CEO of William Morris Endeavour, the agency which owns UFC have come togetehr in confidential talks about how the event will pan out.
Braun reportedly stated that 25 year old Bieber would ‘absolutely’ enter the octagon to fight 56 year old Scientology advocate, Tom Cruise. Furthermore, Emanuel claims that Cruise would agree, being in amazingly great physical shape for his age.
McGregor, who last made highlights in October 2018 has called out the rather buff Walberg on Twitter, writing, “I challenge Mark Wahlberg on the very same card. Back when Mark Wahlberg was Marky Mark, I’d’ve still slapped the ears off him and took my UFC shares back #Shares #Streams #Dazn #Espn McGregor Sports and Entertainment.”
This was all sparked after Justin Bieber tweeted “I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the octagon. Tom if you don’t take this fight your scared and you will never live it down. Who is willing to put on the fight? @danawhite?” – after recently being called out by a fan for a fight.
Cruise however has yet to respond, being rather dormant since January, with Bieber since claiming, “I was just playing. It was just a random tweet. I do that stuff sometimes. I think he would probably whoop my a** in a fight. He’s got that dad strength.”
But since the tweet was retweeted roughly 45,000 times, evidence suggests that the fight could be back on the table with McGregor being super keen to get in on the action, tweeting, “If Tom Cruise is man enough to accept this challenge, McGregor Sports and Entertainment will host the bout. Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight, like he does in the movies? Stay tuned to find out!”
McGregor was the first UFC fighter to hold two belts in two different weigh classes consecutively, which he lost to Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
