A couple of days ago, things got a bit more heated between Paulie Malignaggi and Artem Lobov ahead of their bareknuckle brawl on June 22, 2019.
During a pre-fight presser, Paulie and Artem had to be separated, but before they were, Paulie spat on “The Russian Hammer” which nearly caused an all-out riot.
When asked if he had any regrets for spitting on another man, the former pro boxer said he didn’t. In fact, Pauli says if Artem’s mother would’ve been present, he would’ve spit on here, too.
“I don’t regret it because the line was crossed a long time ago,” Malignaggi told The Mac Life. “You can’t take spitting or anything else out of context. This line was crossed two years ago.,” he said.
“Once you cross the line, you can’t set a new line. Not only do I not regret it, if his mother was at the press conference, I would have spit on her too. There’s no reason to regret anything. I’m ashamed I couldn’t do more. Once you cross that line with me, we can just go.”
Paulie does have some kind of love for spitting on things, as he posted a video of himself hocking a loogie on a mural of Conor McGregor a while back.
While one does understand trying to hype up a fight by any means necessary in the spirit of promotion, spitting on someone is just flat out disrespectful and gross.
But being gross isn’t something that bothers Paulie one bit, as he stated he’d go as far as pissing on Artem once he knocks him out cold. Hopefully security will intervene before it gets to that point.
If you recall, Malignaggi slapped Artem during their first face-to-face meeting, so everything that has gone on since and will likely go down before they square up, will only add to the anticipation of the fight.
