Not only is Conor McGregor’s return to the Octagon at UFC 246 on Jan. 18 monumental for the promotion, but it’s also big for ESPN.
That’s because it will be the first time Conor will compete on an ESPN+-streamed pay-per-view (PPV) event.
That’s why “The World Wide Leader In Sports” aired a promo dedicated specifically for “Notorious” during a National Football League (NFL) Wild card playoff game over the weekend on ESPN.
A game that drew millions of viewers.

The video is interesting for several reasons.
To start, there is absolutely no mention of UFC 246, which is the card Conor will headline in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And secondly, the ad does not mention Donald Cerrone at all, focusing strictly on McGregor and his much-anticipated return.
That said, one shouldn’t be too surprised since Conor is the biggest draw in the game, and if ESPN wants to sell PPV’s it has to hit the audience with the biggest weapon, in this case Conor.
