Conor McGregor’s much-anticipated return didn’t pan out his way, as Dustin Poirier knocked him out in the second round of the UFC 257 PPV event earlier today at UFC 257 on “Fight Island.”

Conor started out aggressive as usual, as he was looking to put the presser on “The Diamond.”

And he was having success early on, tagging Poirier while also eating a few shots of his won. Then, Poirier started working McGregor’s lead leg, kicking him repeatedly which ultimately softened him up.

In round two, Poirier picked up the pace and tagged “Notorious” with several combinations, eventually sending him down to the canvas. From there, he landed another big strike before Herb Dean put an end to the fight.

The loss is a crucial one for McGregor championship dreams, and he will now have to go back to the drawing board to see what’s next.

On the bright side, he is still the biggest star the sport has ever seen, so big-money fights are far from behind him.
