UFC matchmakers have officially sent out a fight contract to Conor McGregor.
Indeed, ESPN’s Brett Okamato recently dropped the news that Dana White and Co. have offered “Notorious” the rematch he desires against Dustin Poirier to take place on Jan. 23, 2020.
“We laid out this year,” White continued. “He was retired. Would anybody disagree he was retired? We have our schedule laid out. Fighters have committed to it. Fighters have started training for these fights. Conor came back and wants to fight Dustin, so we went out and got him his own date. It’s Jan. 23.”
The problem is that McGregor really wanted to fight in 2020, but it seems the promotion is already booked up for the remainder of the year.
That, or it simply could be that UFC and Dana White are trying to prove to Mcgregor that depsite his star power, they aren’t going to keep giving him what he wants.
Especially since Dana White is still very upset that McGreogr broke the “mae code” by leaking privat text messages between them.
Nevertheless, the ball is now in Conor’s court, and it will be intersting to see if he budges and accpets the fight, one month later than he wanted. If he accepts, it will makr one year in gap time that Conor comepted inside the Octagon.
