Being a fighter does come with glitz and glamour if you can make it to the top of the game. With Conor McGregor being the prime example.
While most fighters get paid very well for doing what they do, they do put their bodies on the line for our entertainment.
And sometimes, they leave the cage with some gnarly scars to remind everyone just how difficult and dangerous it is to be a fighter.
Last Saturday night, Alistair Overeem headlined UFC on ESPN 7 in Washington D.C. against Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
“The Reem” was winning the fight after 24 minutes of action and was well on his way to winning the unanimous decision win.
But with just 10 seconds remainding, Jairzinho blasted Alistair with a hard right hand, flooring him and giving him a controversial knockout win.
That’s because it seemed Overeem was still okay after bouncing right back up.
Aside from the loss, Alistair suffered a badly split lip as a result of the one punch. Check out the carnage below, if you dare, VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED:

Truly one of the worst cuts in recent memory.
Thankfully, Overeem went right into plastic surgery to get his injury fixed, and though he wasn’t happy with the stoppage, he was still in good spirits despite his injury.
